Strange categorisation in the poll, I'd have to say. I had to vote for 'Other', as there was no 'the Present day': -

I mean, the early 70s/mid 70s/no.1 in Heaven/Grat Sax periods are all fine, but the last the last 3 albums have witnessed a stunning return to best form ...

... AND ... only in the present do we get possibly the best live Sparks band ever, performing ALL songs from all the best (and less than best!) periods in Sparks' history.

Therefore, surely, there's no better time than than the present!

Isn't great that a 6 year old post is so utterly out of date though? I bet if we were on the Toto fan forum it would be as relevant as the day it was posted. Good on ya Sparks. Keep giving us more and keep us guessing.

Yeah, all a bit pointless, but at least it gave me opportunity to 'quote myself'!

Oooh, this is a toughie, all the Sparks era's are awesome. But I guess since Grat Sax is the first album I ever heard of theirs when I was about eight and I instantly fell in love with "When Do I Get To Sing My Way" (the first thing I would say to my dad whenever I got in the car with him would be; "Could you put that song on that I like?", lol), it holds a lot of sentimental value for me, so I went for that one. Mocking and sarcasm was loose in the 80īs in Sparks music.
Always remember Ron Maels sardonic smile in the early videos.
Does it show how he thinks.

Could be just because they were the first albums I was exposed to, but to me "Kimono - Indiscreet" will always be THE Sparks sound, although it goes without saying that I get enjoyment from all other periods.

In my opinion, it doesn't get any better than Indiscreet! Love it, love it, love it!

I must say, since 21x21, "Indiscreet" and "Big Beat" have really grown on me... With the oh-so-wonderful luxury of hindsight, I now wish I made more of an effort those two concerts, but I certainly liked what I heard from the live internet feed, so via my iPod, I have been avidly re-discovering those two albums!

I voted 'Amateur hour' just for old times sake, though to me it should've been the 'This town ain't big enough for both of us' period.
