The latest Radio Times indicates that Sparks shall be performing on the Culture Show, BBC2.

The first transmission is from 10.00 - 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday 3rd June. A longer transmission is broadcast on Friday 6th June from 11.35 - 12.30 p.m.. Bands usually only performone song at the end of the show but I wonder whether they will get to perform two on the longer programme. And what will they do?

In radio times it mentions Sparks on the Friday show but not Tuesday.
Can anyone confirm otherwise ?

Just checked the BBC2 listings website, and Sparks are certainly on Tuesday night (repeated Friday night). It's the first of a new series, so it's receiving a bit of publicity - good for Sparks!

The programme has moved time slots from before. It was on a couple of hours or so earlier before. It is a brilliant programme.I have thought for ages Sparks belong on this show.Like you say TP the programme is getting a fair bit of advertising both on BBC TV and BBC radio-with it being the first of the new series.Looking forward ideed.Hope Morrissey is played...

It was great to see Sparks on the Culture show but I was disappointed that they chose to play This Town when there is sooooo much strong material on the new album. This would be akin to Steve Harley appearing, talking about a new album but then playing Make Me Smile.

However, hopefully Friday's show shall include an additional song as indicated above.

which is the one song the general public would know, I wonder what kind of trade off is made for these shows?

When it Russell annouced on Sunday that they would be playing a song from the new album and an old one complete with a head tilt and eye roll, I think everyone knew it would the This Town.

Funny Marky should mention Steve Harley in this situation...as it is exactly what happened to him a few years back he was asked to appear on a Ch.4 "variety-style" show...he was pleased about the prospect as he had a new album out....but when he was told he could only play one song and that song had to be Make Me Smile...he declined the offer,at the last minute...and as he was already billed...they allowed him to play TWO tracks on the show...one of his choice and Make Me Smile...so it worked for him,but programme producers have their ideas of how a show should be and rarely waver from that path!!

Here's a link to the BBC iplayer copy of the show. Sparks are on right at the beginning with Lighten up Morrissey and right at the end with This Town... (Hurry up as it'll only be up for a week I think).

I've grabbed The Culture Show Uncut (with both Sparks performances) and will de-DRM it, then upload it at decent (ie not YouTube) quality.
Watch this space.
