So let's start to gear up. As we all no doubt are aware, the musical will air on August 14 at 7.00 pm on the Swedish radio channel P1. P1 streams its broadcasts live at:

http://www.sr.se/webbradio/webbradio.asp?type=live&Id=p1&BroadcastDate=&IsBlock=

Check it out right away to see if it works. If it does, you should be good to go on August 14.

There will be reruns on August 16 at 8.00 pm and August 23 at 00.15 am. Also, P1 seems to keep its shows available for a period of 30 days.

Shouldn't be a problem for you, Eddy - if you take English and remove everything that is neither Low German nor French, you have distilled out the Norse influence. Then you add back about twice as much Dutch as French and you have Swedish. Except the grammar is totally different; simpler than Dutch but more complex than English (e.g. "is" is "δr" regardless of whom you're speaking about, but there are two different grammatic genders that are neither male nor female, and these affect the definite suffix that replaces the definite article - and the passive verb forms may throw you with the way they reverse sentence structure). Don't get me started on the pronunciation.

Anyway, much of the dialogue will be in English anyway, so most of the confusion should be dispelled as the plot reaches Hollywood.

According to the official announcement Ron and Russell "will be at the Sφdra Teatern for a RadioLive presentation of Sparks' 22nd album". I'm not really sure how to interpret that. When reading:

http://www.sodrateatern.com/en/Program--Tickets/Events-container/The-Seduction-of-Ingmar-Bergman-av-Sparks/

it says that "Ron and Russell Mael will be present during the premiere broadcast of this radio musical. Note that no acting will be taking place on the stage. 'The Seduction of Ingemar Bergman is a radio musical'".

Just so that no one expects them to be acting on stage. I'm certain thay would make some sort of appearance though.

presentation???

does not sound like performance!

are they gonna play live?

i'd love to go, but it is a bit expensive if it's only a presentation and no real live show by R&R

It appears that Sverige Radio P1 broadcasts at a maximum bit rate of 96kbps, which is the minimum needed for stereo. So if anyone is planning to record the show on Friday (eg. using Freecorder or Screamer Radio), you may as well lower your encoding bit rate from the default 128kbps to 96kbps, in order to reduce the size of the final MP3 file.

NB. On Screamer Radio, the Sverige Radio P1 in the presets uses an even lower bit rate (33kbps for dial-up), so for broadband you need to change the streaming URL to mms://wm-live.sr.se/SR-P1-High.

Thanks sjadey, I am on dial-up and have been able to listen to the station on Windows Media, the sound seems to jump around a bit, but they were talking and maybe that is how swedish is supposed to sound?

Anyway, I'm set for Friday even on antique machinery :)

Maybe it's because I'm watching Would I Lie To You? on BBC1 and it's making me laugh out loud, but the idea that Swedish is supposed to sound like it jumps, is making me giggle.

According to the transmission schedule, the play will start at 19:03 and will end at 20:10 - when a twenty five minute long conversation with the producer Marie Wennersten and the Maels will start.

So all of you stream listeners, don't touch that off button until at least 20:35!

All times are local, CET/CEST which equals UTC+2 or GMT+2 as some will have it

I watched that the other day as well, it was so funny, especially the bit where Lee Mack said he once made a hitchhiker cry, lol.

Looking forward to hearing the musical, is it 19.30 Swedish time it starts? What time would that be in Britain?

You watched it the other day? I thought it was on BBC1 for the first time last night! Is it on sooner in Scotland?

As for the musical, it says 18:30 on the Swedish posters, so maybe that's the time the doors open at the theatre. The schedule at Sveriges Radio P1 says it starts at 19:03 (Swedish time), which I assume is 18:03 (UK time).
