Just saw a thread on fb saying that Eric has passed away. A Sparks fan of 50 years, he was posting on this forum just a few days ago. A good man has left us
RIP |

This news is really shocking, Eric was a genuinely nice guy.
I’ll miss my wee bit of banter with him. |

I was also shocked to hear of the passing of Eric Murray. I had met him at quite a few Sparks gigs over the years and had a chat. Great guy!! RIP Eric.. |

In my relatively short time here, I've always enjoyed his posts. This is really sad. Dinky, maybe you could send our condolences through FB (I don't have an account). _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

I did some digging and found that Eric had the third most posts to the forum, and that he just wrote this the other day:
"45th Anniversary Bundle arrived today - everything in package as listed"
I didn't know him, but if you'd asked me to name 5 people on the forum, his name would have been one of them. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

That's really sad news. His posts here often brightened up the threads, and he sounded like a decent guy. RIP. _________________ "but we can hear what others can't hear..." |

I've messaged the poster on fb to see if he knows details of the funeral. I'm going to either send flowers or make a donation to a charity depending on family wishes
The flowers will be in the name of Sparks fans everywhere. |

Such a lovely thought. If there is a charity, let us know. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

There are a good many people who would like to contribute, such is the regard Eric was held in! |

Not had a reply as yet. Still hoping to find a way to contact the family, may sadly be too late for the funeral |

Spoke to someone at the office where the chap who posted on fb used to work. She's still in touch with him and has promised to pass on my contact details
Moving forward, options as I see it
1) Flowers for the funeral
2) A donation to a charity he'd have approved of
3) Bit out of the box thinking here. I don't know his domestic circumstances, but if there was someone, whether we could buy something specific and special for them. I've a couple of ideas but without further information, they're a bit specuilative |
