"Kimono My House" does the trick. I've written a review of it on Amazon.com if anyone wants to read it.
I don't think Terminal Jive is all that bad, although musically it wasn't deviating from anything that was in the charts at the time. If Sparks had started in 1980 with that album, I don't know if they would have managed to produce a follow up.

I don't really have a favorite album... but it was "Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins" with "My Way" being the very first song I heard of Sparks.
It was that very special song and that album that got me hooked on the music of Ron and Russell and on them. That all was back in 1994...
It didn't take me very long to buy all their albums... ;-)
So I just had to vote for "Gratuitous Sax and Senseless Violins" as being my favorite album! |

difficult choices to be made: No 1 in Heaven just got my vote before Kimono, Introducting and Sparks/Halfnelson, one vote is not enough. _________________ "Somebody's been putting pineapple juice in my pineapple juice!"

Have to say that I think this is a totally unfair poll.
How you can expect anyone to put Propaganda over Kimono or visa versa is beyond me.....lol
Every track on both LP's gives you that "wow this song is better than the last song" feeling.................even on shuffle mode ! ! !
It just ain't right, they are inseparable, I'm gonna have a little lie down now, it's all too much....................achoo achoo achoo! _________________ The outstanding ebay song, clicky clicky |

The Hurt and Heal "POLL" Game sorted this out earlier !! If you Look..
Its By far the coolest way of sorting out the List of Albums in the
Correct Order !!... Hopefully it will rerun when HYL is Released |

It has to be Indiscreet. Great album. Produced by Tony Visconti. Say no more. _________________ Catch You Later |

Hi,
I voted Propaganda (as my desert island disc) as it means a lot to me and is for me their most consistent work, end to end.
But the two latest albums are absolutely monumental pieces of work. _________________ -------

O.K. it would have been Plagiarism but, inspired by the London concert (online) I went out and bought Indiscreet today.
I'm shocked, so shocked, by how diverse but consistently excellent it is! N.b. I find Kimono and Propoganda genius but too infuriating to actually play, which is why I hadn't got around to buying classic no.3 hitherto.
Oh, I know it's another topic but I consider HYL a great and unified album, wheras Lil' B is more a fascinating experiment. Unfortunately HYL suffers the same drawbacks as prog-rock, which is why Indiscreet trumps it.
My first post, btw!

Hey, where is Hello Young Lovers? I was going to place my vote there, but I have voted for Lil' Beethoven instead, simply because the lyrics are so incredibly witty and I have nothing remotely negative to say about this album - it's just amazing My favourite tracks from this record are definitely Ugly Guys With Beautiful Girls and The Rhythm Thief |

I'm sure the moderator is able to do something about that. Didn't he add an option to another poll recently? Anyway we'd have to start a new in case some of us wanna change our vote...! _________________ "Somebody's been putting pineapple juice in my pineapple juice!"

I think for me it has to be 'Propaganda'... got into Sparks through 'This Town' on Radio Luxembourg, bought 'Kimono' and loved it, but found 'Equator' a little strange (tho I now LOVE it) _________________ Chicks dig metaphors! |

I like the diversity of styles and production on Indescreet but for an album where every second is brilliant it would have to be Kimono My House. My all time top 10 would probably be
1 Kimono My House
2 Indescreet
3 Propaganda
4 Hello Young Lovers
5 No.1 In Heaven
6 Li'l Beethoven
7 Gratuitous Sax
8 A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing
9 Sparks
10 Introducing Sparks |
