sparks once replied to my questions on myspace, the response said that german gigs are planned "in the near future"
so i still hope to get to see them soon.. |
TommyGun, I asked the same question yesterday on myspace. The answer: "Hopefully toward the beginning of the year. "

@ Tommy: On the Sparks last.fm page (who is maintaining it?) there's a weird link to this event in Berlin (see the poster )
http://www.last.fm/event/665200
but actually it's about a German band with the same name - go figure!

German Sparks was already mention in the Sparks not Sparks topic. _________________ "Somebody's been putting pineapple juice in my pineapple juice!"

Is another band allowed to use the name Sparks?
UK bands Yazoo, The Beat and Suede had to change their name to Yaz, The English Beat and The London Suede in the USA, as there were already bands using their names! _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |

I hope Sparks Management or R &R do/does take care about this issue!!
I guess it is very unpleasent for both bands to get in this mixed up mess iIt is possible that the members of this german band have never heard about "real" Sparks. |

Spinal Tap were at one point called The Originals but it conflicted with a previous band name so they did consider calling themselves The New Originals. _________________

In the late 80s a friend, working in Kuwait, gave me a cassette of No.1 In Heaven, which he'd bought in Dubai. In addition to the 6 songs I already knew, these 2 songs were listed:
Holding On
Don't Stop Loving Me Now
I thought "Wow, 2 bonus Sparks tracks I've never heard before! "
However, when I listened to them, they were clearly not by Sparks but some Motown-style soul band! The tracks had been added just to fill blank space on the tape! With hindsight, those titles don't sound like anything Ron would write. _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |

I hope Sparks will come to Australia again, and this time include Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, Perth, and Chinkapook (yes, there is a place called that!!) in their intenerary. I'd love to re-live the magic of January 2001 again especially as they are starting to gain some fandom in my town with local musicians. _________________ 'You'll be in the future if you don't do nothing foolish' - Ron Mael

I wonder if the dates being booked for 2009 will include a few UK dates, as well as European dates. I couldn't make any of the 21x21 gigs due to illness, so i need a Sparks fix soon.
