Well these are the three top tracks throughout the polls..which one will be top?..(I know which one my money is on...lol)
Anyway the poll is limited again...so by this time next week there should be an outright winner... |

Very difficult but it has just got to be 'Calm Before The Storm'. A truly fantastic track that should have got to No 1. _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

I have to be honest....I am surprised by the finalists...I fully expected My Baby's Taking Me Home to be somewhere amongst this lot....very surprised The Angels wasn't placed either....I suppose what E/fad said rings true...people sway their choices from one minute to the next....Why did no-one vote for BC or Lets Get Funky????(apart from me that is....lol)
Equator(IMO) isn't a surprise choice...it is probably one of those tracks which on initial listening...has an irritating quality to some ears(I've always had a soft spot for it)....but it is a real grower...even now it is one of the tracks guaranteed a repeat play(maybe more than once) before the KMH cycle plays again...and this I've found out from other Sparks' fans. |

I absolutely love Equator, the lyric is inspired, the music is atmospheric
(it reminds me of a place I haven`t actually been...but that`s another story ! )
but I`ll stick to my line and say I could live with the last 20 seconds or so being shaved off.
On the other hand, I`m also a bit envious that I probably couldn`t do it after what went before....10/10 for stamina :-)
Calm only got my choice because when the chips are down, it`s a more dance oriented track (even though it`s fabulous in it`s own right)
otherwise Equator it would have been......
If my life depended on the choice though, it could be different ;-) |

Sorry I disagree...(any last minute votes pay heed)...the ending of Equator...is it's most enduring quality...shaving off even 5 seconds would destroy it's integrity...the desperation in Russell's voice as he competes with the "sax sound"..is almost heart rending. |

This is a tough call as all 3 are Class Tunes.... Having said
that EQUATOR is a real Hardcore Fan Song!! Not 1 the masses
might get into... MOON is a great Rock Tk as well something
Tommy Vance might of played on his "Rock Hour" but THECALM
is Classic Sparks that would appeal to the Masses so as its a
Most Popular Vote Thats where my Cross goes |

Alex, I presume you made a note of the final 10 or 20, you`ll have to re-run those finalists again, and get an average, or a best of 3......
give people a chance to actually listen to them before they vote, I didn`t with a lot and used just memory to choose a few...I`m not sure if I trust my memory alone.
Depending on the final 20, if they were theoretically released as a double compliation.....how many people would buy it ?
disregarding that we already have the tracks, and money wasn`t in the equation, JUST for the choice of tracks only. |

I remember the first time I saw Sparks at the Brighton Dome in 1975. They ended the set with Equator - complete with 'live' fade out. Bloody marvellous.

nope ..not a great believer in averages or reruns...simply because ..like any vote...you get your chance at the time...if you change your mind or are unsure or even don't vote...(as in a political election)..you get the choices and winner dealt by the votes cast...Eeh I'm getting delusions of grandeur now....lol...I will probably reset the polls next year though....after all there will be 10 new tracks to choose from! |

How can anyone really discern between these most fantastic 3 tracks. Equator is absolute brilliance with Russell's voice bringing me out in goosebumps (especially at the end). Moon Over Kentucky - a song that just blows me away everytime I hear it and Russell's vocals on this are truly amazing as well. Then you have 'Calm' which is one of my all time fav tracks - this is more suited to the charts as it has more 'pop' appeal than the other 2. Bloody good to dance to as well.
I know I have already voted but I love all 3 tracks. This is the hardest decision I have had to make recently!! _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

Ive enjoyed this POLL many thanks to ALEX ... It made the
Eurovision Song Contest voting system appear to be Childs
Play in Comparison !!..... The only thing that I can see thats
hard to Counter using this System is that the Stronger Songs
on Weaker Albums will always have the Advantage no matter
what !!! mmmmm Its never easy trying to think of 100% fair
systems specially with this Limited Poll Thing on here...
Still Tks GOOD FUN !! |

Well, I think there are not enough people who are involved in these polls...
Sorry (i m a french guy) but those 3 songs are not the best sparks songs at all...
Equator is sympathetic but rather "poor" and I guess its succes here is due to its non-sparks aspect (female voices, sax, live shape...)
The calm before is rather entertaining but very very very "ordinary", even "weak", and in the "dance" way Sparks have far more good and original songs like all the "when and so on"... When do I get to sing my way, When I m with you, When I kiss you... and all number 1 in heaven...
Moon over Kentucky is a great Sparks song, I agree for once, but in the equal company of 30 other ones., especially in Indiscreet, Angst and Lil Beethoven...
Cheers

I only voted in the first round of this poll, as I've been too busy to spend much time on the forums lately, so it's missed out on my votes and my personal favourites haven't made it to the top. Don't suppose you want to start the poll all over again Alex? thought not....
I have voted BTW. _________________ You see a peanut, and the day's off to a good start. You witness some soil, and it's a jamboree..... |
