I was sad not to be able to do more than 2 gigs, and even then not featuring my favourite albums. But I'm so glad I made it for this superb opener. It's true that the sound balance was poor, but the atmosphere of this concert was so infectious. Everyone 'sang their little hearts out' and it was great to be among people who knew all the words to this not-very-well-known album. The humour which transferred from stage to audience was almost tangible and the atmosphere just so damn happy! It was a great international occasion too - we met people from the States, Russia, France and Denmark.
I'll content myself with the live streaming until Angst in my Pants - but what an occasion!!! _________________ You must be just around the bend |

Well I'm just back from a wonderful weekend in London.
I really thought this was the best night. I loved the album so much more after hearing this. Russell sounded better live than on the record and he hit the notes amazingly well. It was all good. The whole trip just reinforced how much I love them. |

Fantastic start to the 21 nights - a particular favourite was Slowboat, an under-rated gem in the Sparks back catalogue.
I agree with other comments that the sound was not perfect, and in particular that the bass was too boom-y at times and that Ron's keyboards were too low in the mix. I even heard a couple of shouts to this effect from the crowd, though that was hardly going to help... |

I'm currently on a mission to simplify my life.
I made a major change last week and I've now found a name for my free quest...
Simple Ballet
Why make life such a complex dance?
Just can't stop playing this song (and singing it over and over again in my head).
See, here I go again. _________________ Reaction

It was a good one.
Given this album was released before I was born I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and how well it came over live.
Towards the end I went to the bar for a final pint (it's great knowing what the songs will be and how long you have left so you can time bar trips!) Even the bar staff (18 year old emo kids with more goth chic than normally allowed for bar staff) were a bit mesmerised durring 'Nice Guys'.
A top way to open this shindig :) |
