That's a shame. My wife, myself and close fellow Sparks fan could have treated you and your good lady to a little tipple or two before the concert. |

Thank you anyway!
I had to look up what "tipple" is and I think that would have been nice but I think we will not be able to travel there this time.
If Sparks will come to Sweden (and I think and hope so) we will be there no matter where in Sweden (I think it'll be atleast in Stockholm if anywhere in Sweden). |

Sorry, but because your English is near perfect, I just took it for granted that you would understand all words.
I am reasonably fluent in Spanish and the same thing happens to me. Don't worry, I believe it is a big compliment when people from the country whose language it is you are speaking merely assume you will know everything.
I wouldn't know where to start with speaking Swedish though.
I've looked on the map as to where you live and it's quite a distance from Stockholm, but nevertheless, hopefully the brothers will be there for you in October. |

Thanks for complimenting on my english and thanks for hoping for me that Sparks will be here (I don't think it'll be in my hometown,Umeå though I've been to Nazareth here twice ).
Anyway we will like to go to Stockholm and Södra teatern there for Sparks if it'll be there and that's a nice trip to go there I think.
Also want to say I prefer Sparks alot over Nazareth though they have made some great songs aswell.
also Alot more energy in Russell than Dan.
When you wrote about speaking swedish It reminded me of when infact Ron and Russell spoke some swedish as a xmas greeting on swedish radio 1977.
I have memorised it (not sure that was correct english).
Russell : "Hej Jag är Russell från Sparks e.."
Ron : "From both of us to all of you. God Jol!" (should be "God Jul".So almost perfect though not much swedish ).
I remember in an interview in the same radioshow 1977 (not the same date though) when "Introducing Sparks" was out that Russell said "Swedish girls are the best in the world anyway" .
"Introducing Sparks" did sell rather well in Sweden I've read.
It was a bigger hit in Sweden than in UK it seems atleast compared to the "Island records".
I meen in UK "Kimono My House" and "propaganda" was a much bigger hits than "Introducing Sparks" but in Sweden "Introducing Sparks" was (I think) a bigger hit than "Kimono My House" and "propaganda" and "Indiscreet" did rather well here. |

I looked it up and found that both "Indiscreet" (peak at nr. 6) and "Big Beat" (peak at nr. 24) where bigger hits in the charts here in Sweden than "Introducing Sparks" (peak at nr. 41) but all them three was bigger than "Propaganda" (peak at nr. 50).
"Kimono My House" didn't even charted.
Excuse me if I now got away from the thread here. |

I'm a new fan of Sparks and am working my way through their albums, one by one, so bear that in mind with this list!
The Calm Before the Storm
Hasta Manana Monsieur
Amateur Hour
When I'm With You
Here In Heaven
As I Sit Down to Play the Organ at the Notre Dame Cathedral
All You Ever Think About Is Sex
I Can't Believe That You Would Fall For All the Crap In This Song
La Dolce Vita
But anything they play at the Barbican will make me happy. Very excited to see them on stage! _________________ Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. ~ T.S. Eliot |

The vote of the Islington Jury is for:
Dancing is Dangerous (I ought to know)
(NB NOT the Noel song, for anyone who doesn't know this track, it's a bonus track on the japanese Angst cd) _________________ The concept of two people living together for 25 years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep. |

Welcome on board this forum miss persephone!
AAAH!! to discover the wonderful music of Sparks.
I've been a fan for something like 35 years (with some years "off" but no many)and I guess I'll never grow tired of Sparks.
I can asure you you have ALOT to look forward to seeing/hearing them live on stage.
I've done that 6 times on 3 occasions 2003-2006 (all in Sweden) and hopefully soon again in Sweden.
I'm curious which Sparks albums you have listened to so far. |

I'm hoping that some of the Bergman tracks are given the stripped down piano n voice treatment.
I've always enjoyed those heavily produces tracks that get the treatment - best example I can think of is Change.
Also wondering whether Ron will stick to just electric piano or whether he'll employ a lot of synth effects to bulk up the sound. _________________ But when I trimmed it real small my Jewish friends would never call. |

I hope it will be a good mix between these two. |

Music to my ears! What a fine selection! Some classy numbers in there. Hope that as you build up your collection, you'll keep coming across songs that seep down the very depths of your imagination. I did. Let the beat enliven your senses! |
